Aurizon Network submitted a draft amending access undertaking (the initial GAPE and Newlands pricing DAAU) in September 2022 that sought amendments—including adjustments to relevant reference tariffs—to address ongoing issues arising from the Goonyella to Abbot Point expansion (GAPE) project.
On 14 February 2023, Aurizon Network withdrew its initial GAPE and Newlands pricing DAAU, following publication of our preliminary considerations.
On 6 April 2023, Aurizon Network submitted a new draft amending access undertaking (the April 2023 DAAU). We released a final decision on the April 2023 DAAU on 23 November 2023, which refused to approve the DAAU and set out the amendments we required in order for the DAAU to be appropriate to approve.
On 1 December 2023, Aurizon Network submitted another 2023 GAPE and Newlands pricing DAAU (the December 2023 DAAU). Aurizon Network has stated that this DAAU was prepared to comply with the QCA’s November decision.
We approved the December 2023 DAAU on 22 February 2024.
