Project overview

We assess the prudency and efficiency of Aurizon Network’s capital expenditure each year to determine whether it should be included in Aurizon Network’s regulatory asset base (RAB) for the Central Queensland coal network.

In our assessment, we focus on the:

scope of works
standard of works
cost of works

Regulatory process

15 September 2017	The QCA published a paper on its assessment approach for the 2016–17 capital expenditure claim.
31 October 2017	Aurizon Network submitted its 2016–17 capital expenditure claim.
8 November 2017	Stakeholders were invited to comment on Aurizon Network’s 2016–17 capital expenditure claim.
24 November 2017	Deadline for submissions. The QCA received one submission.
28 November 2018	Aurizon Network submitted an accounting review by RSM Australia to accompany its 2016–17 capital expenditure claim.
31 May 2018	Aurizon Network submitted an amended claim.
5 July 2018	Deadline for submissions. The QCA did not receive any submissions.
19 July 2018	The QCA published its decision.
